A simple extraction is the removal of a tooth that sits above the gumline and can no longer be repaired - typically one that is badly decayed, broken, or loosened by gum disease. Before we begin, we numb the area completely with local anaesthetic, so the tooth and the bone around it are fully desensitised. Using a dedicated surgical kit, we then loosen the tooth with steady, controlled pressure and ease it free along its natural path, working slowly to protect the surrounding gum and bone. There is no cutting or stitching involved in a straightforward case - it is one of the most routine procedures in dentistry, and most are completed comfortably in a single short visit.

Throughout the procedure you feel firm pressure and movement, but never sharp pain, because the area stays thoroughly numb. Our priority is to remove the tooth atraumatically - preserving as much of the bone socket as possible, which matters greatly if you may later want an implant or bridge in that space.
