A jaw cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops in the bone, often around the tip of a tooth root that has been chronically infected, while apical surgery (an apicoectomy) treats the very tip of a root that has not healed after conventional root canal treatment. Left untreated, a cyst can quietly grow and erode healthy bone, so removing it early protects both the jaw and the neighbouring teeth. At Dental Med Austria we begin with detailed 3D imaging to map the exact size and position of the lesion and its relationship to nerves, sinuses and adjacent roots. This planning lets our surgeons work precisely, removing the entire lesion through the smallest practical access and protecting everything that should be kept.

Where the cyst has left a cavity or thinned the surrounding bone, we rebuild the site using Botiss bone grafting material, supporting natural healing and helping the jaw regenerate a stable, healthy foundation. The lesion is sent for analysis where indicated, the root tip is sealed in apical cases, and the area is closed to heal cleanly.
